..and he is the uncle of the very, very talented Derek Trucks, who I am sure will be missing him.

Saw Butch Trucks playing a small NC club back in the late 70's. Sad.

Mary Tyler Moore died today too.

NOOOOOOOO. My dad turned me onto the ABB at a very young age, and as a drummer, listening to them hang it out was a formative experience. I was lucky to see them once, back in ‘98 or so.

Uncle, but yeah. Just saw Derek a few months ago, and saw him with ABB in my late teens, that’s always been a religious experience.

Within the window, corrected. Derek’s solos on Allman stuff are breathtaking - Tedeschii-Trucks doesn’t do a whole lot for me, but I really do like the man.

I have literally cried during his live solos, it’s just transcendent. TTB’s power doesn’t always come through on recordings, but man, they are something else live. Some of Derek’s solos playing with Gov’t Mule are properly insane too, check this out:

Starts about 5:45 if the time stamp doesn’t work. And remember, he was like fucking 20 years old at the time. This was my holy shit moment with him.

That’s a bummer. I still see Greg Allman, almost every time I visit my parents. He’s a nice chill dude, and funny too. I have seen him perform more than any other artist.
